Genesis Chapter 9 - Receiving and Honoring Spirit

Society likes to expose people at their lowest point.  We read about the failings of people in the newspaper, magazines and on tv.  Just stand in the checkout line of the grocery store and read the cover of the latest gossip magazines and the shortcomings in people's lives is plastered all over.
Raise your hand if you kinda felt good that someone famous or someone around you is having a bad time of it(wow, that's alot of hands - glad you were honest!). We tend to put another down in these times, in order to raise ourselves up. Instead, our behavior when people are at their low point should show honor for that person.  Love covers a multitude of stupidity.

So simply put, don't judge at someone's lowest moment - love them and give them grace.  Don't you want the grace in return?  "Make your words sweet - some day you may have to eat them."

The Lord hears the dishonor.  Dishonor affects the progress of you and the progress of the whole.  Dishonor affects you and the kids.  Dishonoring spirit brings undermine to kids.

Reminders to put honor back in your life to elevate:

1.  Honor God
Read the bible.  While reading the bible say "I am here for you , Holy Spirit speak to me."  Worship him even if you don't feel it, press through.  Honor his presence, honor his word. "Walk with me today, Lord, let me know if I have dishonored you - bring it to my mind."  How you treat Jesus is how God will treat you.

2. Honor our parents.  Honor our spouses

3. Honor the older generation.

4. Honor Rulers(Authority).  Romans 13.1. Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.
God chose them, therefore honor them.

5.  Honor Pastors
If you dishonor pastor, you undermine your authority.
